Found right across North America, these shy animals are considered carnivores despite the large quantity of vegetables and fruit in their natural diet. In the wild they would eat insects, a few bits of fruit and vegetables and small animals. In captivity we feed them a diet which consists of vegetables - such as sweet corn, peas, cucumber, carrot, broccoli but they also get some insects, cottage cheese and small amounts of boiled chicken.
- Live up to 20 years.
- Live bearing they have around 4-9 babies a year.
- Adult Skunks grow the the size of a small dog.
- Habitat being deciduous woodland.
- Nocturnal mammal.
Crazy Fact
Skunks are one of the most smelliest animals in the world, this is because they spray predators with a very smelly substance. If this gets on your clothes or skin it smells for weeks and if it gets in your eyes it can cause temporary blindness.
